About the Plan

The Town of Cambridge City has recently begun a process to update the Comprehensive Master Plan.  This planning process will outline a vision and strategic framework for future development, redevelopment, and community building projects within the Town.  It will also ensure that Cambridge City maintains a high quality of life for residents and is competitive from an economic development standpoint.  The current comprehensive master plan was created in 2002; since then, the Town has seen creation of the industrial park, redevelopment in the downtown, and a new group of leadership and staff.  Given all the present opportunities and past changes that have occurred in Cambridge City, a new comprehensive master plan is needed.

The purpose of the comprehensive master plan is to guide Cambridge City’s Council, Commissions, and staff regarding the type, location and intensity of development and redevelopment.  It will also describe an aspirational vision and goals; recommendations related to future land use, transportation improvements, quality of life initiatives, downtown revitalization, and economic development efforts; and implementation policies and priorities.  The Town was awarded a planning grant from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), and Rundell Ernstberger Associates, an Indianapolis-based planning and urban design firm, has been retained to provide facilitation and technical guidance throughout the process.

The planning process will last approximately seven months and will be guided by a steering committee comprised of local leaders, residents, and business owners.  A number of input and engagement opportunities will be available to residents throughout the process.
