RESIDENT PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE – CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR
Rundell Ernstberger Associates is an Indianapolis-based multi-disciplinary design and engineering firm with a history of over 38 years providing innovative site planning and design, an award winning regional and national portfolio of transformational placemaking solutions, and reputation for excellence in all forms of design on the land. Our services include landscape architecture, urban design, planning, and civil engineering. Our work includes a wide variety of projects at the local, state, and national level – including civic spaces and public parks, trails and greenways, active/multi-modal transportation, campus planning and design, streetscapes and urban design, mixed-use development, and specialty site design. We are growing our team of talented and dedicated professionals and are looking for experienced site construction inspectors for projects throughout Indiana.
Responsibilities: This position requires construction administration experience, overseeing and managing a wide variety of site construction projects. Specific responsibilities will include serving as the firm’s on-site representative for our clients; participation in and facilitation of construction progress meetings; on-site observation and evaluation of construction activities to monitor conformance with the contract documents; reporting on the progress and quality of the completed work; reviewing the contractor’s application for payment; assistance with the review and processing of submittals requests for information, supplemental instructions, and proposed changes in work; conducting final inspection and project closeout procedures; and review of contractor-prepared as-built drawings and related documents required by the Contract Documents. The ideal candidate will have strong time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills, will be service-oriented, and will have an interest in working on high profile, innovative projects. This position has the opportunity for travel and advancement in the firm.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have, at a minimum, an Associate’s degree in construction engineering/management, civil engineering, landscape architecture, or a related field; at least 4 years of experience in the site construction industry working with a governmental agency or consulting engineering firm; relevant civil or environmental infrastructure construction project experience involving earthwork, utilities, drainage facilities, poured in place concrete, pavements, specialty site materials and furnishings, and lighting; demonstrated proactive verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and record keeping skills; working knowledge of AutoCAD software; and proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience working with municipal, institutional, and higher education clients, a high-level working knowledge of MS Project or other project management software, and completion of the INDOT Certified Technician Program are all pluses, though not required. The successful candidate will be willing to travel in the state of Indiana and enjoy working on collaborative and dynamic multidisciplinary teams.
