Change happens here

We’re experts in urban design, planning, and landscape architecture. But that’s only part of our story. We believe in collaboration, creativity, and lifelong learning — and that high-quality work starts with high-quality culture.

Making space to belong

The work we do every day makes a difference. Our projects directly impact people and their communities — including our own. We look to each member of our team for leadership based on their unique perspective and experiences.

We’re mentors and lifelong learners committed to making tomorrow better than today.

A positive impact starts in the office and grows beyond it. Stepping outside our usual workspace brings us closer as a team, blending fun with purpose and sparking fresh inspiration.

Our offices

Where you work matters. Our offices in Louisville and Indianapolis represent our values, from creating walkable, people-centric places to fostering collaboration. Everyone, including our partners, works together in an open studio space rather than behind closed doors.

Internship program

Gain on-the-ground experience in planning, urban design, and landscape architecture. We welcome students for three-month, six-month, or year-long paid internships at our offices in Louisville and Indianapolis — close to public transit, housing, and more — with PTO, paid holidays, and direct mentorship from working professionals.

You’ll work closely with our team and clients on commercial, institutional, and municipal planning and design projects, from community engagement to master planning, conceptual design, and construction administration.

All interns complete a capstone project, developing research or helping solve real-world design challenges on a specific topic. At the end of your term, you’ll share your project and findings with the entire studio.

“I chose to work at REA for many reasons, but the people were the deciding factor. In a profession that revolves around people — designing, communicating, inspiring, and planning for communities and individuals — it was crucial for me to work with those who truly embody the belief that every person matters.”

Andrea Eageny, ASLA
Landscape Designer

“The internship capstone project is what truly sets REA apart. Having the freedom to choose my own project allowed me to dive into a topic I’m passionate about, sharpen my skills, and collaborate closely with my coworkers. After presenting my capstone, I felt a deep sense of pride — knowing I had made a meaningful contribution to both the firm’s knowledge and my personal growth.”

Jillian Andriot
Landscape Architecture Intern, Ball State University

“This was my first internship, and REA not only helped me grow as a professional but also solidified my passion for planning. The opportunity to work across diverse areas — from data analysis to 3D modeling to policy writing — has been incredibly valuable for my development as a student and future professional.”

Jaclyn Mauro
Planning Intern, University of Cincinnati
