The Town of Nashville, Indiana is creating a new Comprehensive Plan, a 20-year vision for the future of the community. Nashville is located in the rolling hills of southern Indiana between Columbus and Bloomington. As the front door to the renowned Brown County State Park, Nashville is known for its outdoor recreational opportunities, unique local businesses, and connection to the arts. While Nashville continues to attract visitors, planning for the needs of residents isa priority. The local housing supply, transportation connectivity, and utility infrastructure all require analysis, evaluation, and planning for the future, based on the community’s vision.
The purpose of the Town of Nashville Comprehensive Plan is to develop a shared future vision to better align decision making with the community vision. REA is working with Town Staff, a Steering Committee, and stakeholders to identify the desired type, location, and intensity of potential future development. With a community-supported Comprehensive Plan, Town leaders will be able to both proactively prioritize projects that meet the vision and respond to development requests with a guiding plan to reference.
The Comprehensive Plan uniquely integrates Nashville’s commitment to preserving its artistic and outdoor recreational heritage while planning for practical needs like housing and infrastructure. Analysis and planning for housing, transportation, and utilities will lead to better infrastructure, enhancing the quality-of-life for residents and making the town more attractive to visitors. The plan aligns development with Nashville’s natural beauty and cultural assets, maintaining its reputation as a gateway to Brown County State Park and a hub for unique local businesses and arts.
