The Stone Family Center for Health Sciences is the first building of a new four city block Medical Education and Research Park. The campus serves as a landmark case study for urban infill, complete streets, and green infrastructure development.
The SFCHS has had a significant economic and social benefit to downtown Evansville. Two new hotels and restaurants have located adjacent to the campus. Building Two of the medical campus - a research and clinical facility - is currently under construction, and advance planning for Building Three has begun.
In addition to training new generations of medical professionals, City of Evansville has estimated that the new SFCHS will have an annual economic impact of $340 million.
