A vision for future land uses, infrastructure investments, and economic development initiatives for approximately 4,000 acres surrounding the State Road 61 and Interstate 69 interchange.
We led a team of planners, landscape architects, engineers, and market analysts in the creation of the Pike County I-69 Area Master Plan. The plan details a vision for future land uses, infrastructure investments, and economic development initiatives for approximately 4,000 acres surrounding the State Road 61 and Interstate 69 interchange. With construction of the new I-69 between Evansville and Indianapolis, transportation access to Pike County has significantly improved. The plan seeks to promote land use strategies that direct growth and development to appropriate locations; identify necessary roadway, utility, and stormwater infrastructure upgrades; and prioritize strategies and potential funding sources for implementation.
The interchange area serves as a gateway to the City of Petersburg to the north and greater Pike County to the south and west. It is intended that this plan be used as a tool by Pike County, the City of Petersburg, and the Pike County Economic Development Corporation decision makers as well as other public and private entities. Multiple stakeholders representing a wide variety of interests and organizations were included in the planning process. The plan includes land use and transportation recommendations as well as a targeted economic development strategy to attract new investment. These components were then combined to form the development master plan and subsequent, detailed infrastructure project recommendations. The plan also describes the implementation mechanisms necessary for the City, County, and EDC to realize the plan vision.
